Apache Junction VFW Post No. 7968 and Auxiliary will hold a Standdown — an event that provides services to veterans and their families — 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.

It will be held at VFW Post 7968, 250 S. Phelps Drive in Apache Junction.

The Veterans Administration will be there with claims representatives, a nurse to give toxic exposure testing and many other services that are available to the veteran community. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs, according to a release.

Additionally, there will be other local organizations providing discounts and services to our veterans. Some of these services include the Purple Heart Thrift store, Apache Junction Community Food Bank, Genesis Project, Mesa Community College, Balancing Point Acupuncture, Mesa Veterans Resource Center, Hospice of the Valley, American Service Animal Society and other organizations.
