Apache Junction street work leaves section unpaved

Posted

The city chip sealed all of Starr and Cortez except for a quarter-mile right in the middle of each street.

Was told lack of funds to do whole street. Today they freshly striped all of the new pavement. They did not even give us the courtesy of fresh striping on our old and decrepit little left out section. Thirty years here and have never felt so unappreciated or unrepresented in all this time.
It really leaves one to question the oversight and leadership of our city departments. This is the tip of the iceberg to many.

I sent emails like this one to four council members and the vice mayor asking for a response. I have not received any response from any of them. I did get a call from Bryant Powell, the city manager, and the best response I can get is basically in so many ways and words is “We missed it” and, “We will try to do better.”

Why should the city be in such a financial situation they cannot chip seal — the cheapest option out there — 100% of the two streets, only 93%?

Feeling gaslit here.
