Members of the Apache Junction Mounted Rangers on Jan. 17 met with Pinal Gila Community Child Services, also known as Head Start, to donate $2,000.
"They will be using some of the money to purchase tennis shoes, hoodie jackets, and sweat pants, to have on hand to give to children when needed," according to a release.
The Head Start program is an income-qualifying program, and there is no charge for the program. Families can go to pgccs.org and click on the "pre application" button and start the process. They are currently accepting applications for the 2020-21 school year. It is at 900 Plaza Drive.
Head Start has four half-day, center-base classrooms and a toddler center base as well as home base programs that go year-round, the release states.
Head Start also has a little house that is called "The Little Neighborhood Library." The program is a "Take and Share" reading program. People are welcome to take a book to read and bring a book to share. Books for all ages are welcomed. Check "The Little Library" program on the website pgccs.org for more information.
The Apache Junction Mounted Rangers are a 501(c)3 non profit organization that promotes traditions of the old west, the release said of the volunteer rangers who provide peace-keeping measures at community events and for local businesses.
The organization, which supports children and youth charities in Apache Junction, participates in parades, memorial services and other activities on horseback, quads and on foot. Also, they partner in the operation of the annual Lost Dutchman Days Rodeo in Apache Junction.
