A May 3 mobile home fire at 2292 N. Ironwood Drive in Apache Junction that injured two people and killed a family pet was started intentionally and a suspect has been arrested, police said.

Apache Junction Police Department and Superstition Fire and Medical District responded to the fire at about 9:15 a.m. Monday.

“When the officers arrived on scene the home was fully engulfed in flames. Two of the residents sustained injuries while trying to escape the residence, one was transported to the hospital for burns. In addition to the injuries sustained by the residents a family pet perished in the fire,” Cpl. Marshall Harshman, AJPD’s public information officer, said.

“According to the fire investigators it was evident that an accelerant was used to start the fires and it was started intentionally. AJPD investigators were informed by witnesses that 19-year-old Honour Moore was seen running from the residence as he was shouting incriminating statements implicating himself in the arson,” Cpl. Harshman said.

Mr. Moore was questioned by detectives and subsequently transported to the Pinal County Detention Center where he was booked on one count of arson of an occupied structure and one count of endangerment.

Information at pinalcountyaz.gov/sheriff/pages/searchinmates.aspx states the suspect is 22.
