Apache Junction council, mayor candidate forum Wednesday

The Apache Junction Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a forum for Apache Junction council and mayor candidates.

It starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the Apache Junction City Council Chambers, 300 E. Superstition Blvd. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The forum will allow chamber members and the community an opportunity to hear from the candidates in a moderated conversation regarding issues important to Apache Junction, according to a release.

Invited are Apache Junction residents Ari Kalan and Chip Wilson, who met the April 1 filing deadline to run for the position of mayor for a two-year term and will appear on the primary ballot; and Apache Junction residents Peter Heck, Bambi Johnson, Mo Mohiuddin and Tess Nesser, who met the April 1 filing deadline to run for the position of council member for a four-year term and will appear on the primary ballot.

Candidate forum rules include:

  • No electioneering (campaign-related activity) inside the council chambers or within the lobby of the council chambers.
  • Signage, including but not limited to posters, yard signs, hand-held signs, banners, balloons, electronic devices, face painting, promotional giveaways that endorse any candidate will not be allowed inside the council chambers or within the lobby of the council chambers.
  • Wardrobe and wardrobe accessories, including but not limited to shirts, jackets, hats, hair bows, pins, lanyards, arm bands, temporary tattoo sleeves, footwear, sashes that endorse any candidate will not be allowed inside the council chambers or within the lobby of the council chambers.
  • No endorsements by the sponsors of the event.
  • The public may attend the candidate forum.
  • No electronic devices (phone, tablet, iPad, computer), may be used by a candidate during the forum.
