Apache Junction City Council chooses Schroeder as vice mayor

Posted

Apache Junction Councilmember Robert Schroeder was selected as vice mayor in a unanimous vote Jan. 3.

Per city code, the salary for the position of mayor is $1,000 per month, for vice mayor it is $900 per month and for council member it is $800 per month. Councilmembers serve four-year terms while the mayor has a two-year term.

Also at the Jan. 3 meeting, the new Apache Junction City Council was seated.

Darryl Cross and Bryan Soller, who were elected in August, were sworn in as the newest members. Mayor Chip Wilson and Schroeder were also sworn in to new terms after their re-election.

Former Vice Mayor Christa Rizzi and Councilmember Gail Evans did not run for re-election and stepped down on Jan. 3 after a decade on city council.
