AJUSD announces registration for future kindergarten students

Apache Junction Unified School District is conducting kindergarten registration and hosting a fun kick-off event for incoming kindergartners for the 2022–23 school year.

The events are 5-7 p.m. Feb. 28 at Desert Vista Elementary School, 3701 E. Broadway Ave. in Apache Junction; Four Peaks Elementary School, 1785 N. Idaho Road in Apache Junction; and Peralta Trail Elementary School, 10965 E. Peralta Road in Gold Canyon.

Parents/guardians should attend the school where they wish to enroll their kindergarten student. The goal of the event is to meet the kindergarten teachers and principal, complete registration, understand kindergarten expectation and share ideas for summer activities, according to a release.

Parents or guardians should bring the child’s shot records, proof of residency and the child’s birth certificate. However, if these items are not available, AJUSD staff will be on hand to help parents find the information they need to enroll their child for school, as well as check school boundaries to ensure students enroll in the correct district.

“Going to kindergarten is an important first step in a child’s education and our goal is to make the process easy, friendly and welcoming,” AJUSD superintendent Heather Wallace said in the release. “This event is also a great way to begin our relationship with students and parents and create a positive environment that fosters academic success.”
