Aircraft noise may force Apache Junction resident to move

Posted

The other afternoon I was outside in Apache Junction, where I have lived for seven years, and found myself very agitated, which is strange because it is such a fabulous place to live.

I looked up and there were six light aircraft over my house. A dark blue one was particularly loud and went in a circle heading back to Phoenix. It turns out that I am sensitive to light aircraft noise.

Not everyone is bothered by this to the extent I am. My investigation showed that flight schools are open at Falcon Field and we are considered their practice area. It is rumored that these enterprises are quite profitable, so four more may be opening, including one for jets.

I recognize commercial passenger jets are part of our environment now but these little planes are low and slow and very noisy. I was awoken early one morning to the sound of these airplanes and was surprised to find my blood pressure was elevated, which has never been a problem before.

Yes, aircraft noise can affect some people to this degree. Please complete the form for the FAA to get these aircraft away from our lovely, scenic and serene valley before it becomes a bigger problem and people who are not as sensitive to this noise find it unbearable as it increases.

There may be even more planes disturbing our peace. It is difficult to have a conversation with friends on our patio on the weekend when the traffic is much worse.

Sadly, I think I will have to sell my house and move further East where the planes are not going to impact my health and quality of life.
