ADOT opens nearly 2 miles of State Route 88 Apache Trail
Crews completed repairs from erosion damage to a segment of SR88 to allow it to be reopened for recreational access.

The section of SR88 between the Fish Creek Hill scenic overlook at milepost 222 and Reavis Trailhead Road near milepost 227 remains closed indefinitely due to extensive flood damage that occurred in the burn scar area following the Woodbury Fire.

The Arizona Department of Transportation recently reopened a 1.7-mile section of State Route 88 (Apache Trail) at the Apache Vista gate (milepost 229) to provide access to Reavis Trailhead Road/Forest Road 212.
Crews completed repairs from erosion damage to this segment of SR88 to allow it to be reopened for recreational access, according to a release.
The section of SR88 between the Fish Creek Hill scenic overlook at milepost 222 and Reavis Trailhead Road near milepost 227 remains closed indefinitely due to extensive flood damage that occurred in the burn scar area following the Woodbury Fire.
ADOT is conducting a study to determine the scope and cost of reopening the damaged portion of SR88. The results of that study are expected in 2023.
