I am hosting the 4th Annual Gathering of Goldens again this year. The free event will be at a new location since attendance has grown over the last few years. Last year about 60 Goldens attended and this year I expect about 80 to 100 Goldens.

This year it will be at Red Mountain Park, 7745 E. Brown Road in east Mesa, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 4. Some new fun activities are planned such as a silly bandanna contest and a mini parade around the park.

What’s unique about this event is that each year a different dog-related charity is selected to be the recipient of some type of donation. The event harnesses the enthusiasm of Golden Retrievers and their owners getting together and giving to good causes. My tag line for this is Goldens Giving for a Good Cause.

This year the local charity is Gilbert-based Friends for Life Animal Rescue My goal is to collect 500 cans of dog food. I really enjoy putting this event together each year.

This is an on-leash event. Dogs must be up-to-date on all vaccines, pet and child friendly. For more information, call or text event host Renée Bellefeuille at 602-793-9434.
