Empowerment Systems in partnership with the Pinal-Gila Council for Seniors is hosting an introductory three-hour session on mental health first aid Tuesday, Jan. 28.
"This course will be specifically geared towards grandparents raising their grandchildren --- and other adults helping to raise kids," according to a release.
Mental health first aid can help area residents recognize emotional signs and symptoms that can lead to substance abuse and mental health issues, the release states.
The free session is 8:30-11:45 a.m. with a free lunch at 11:45 a.m. at the Apache Junction Multi-Generational Center, 1035 N. Idaho Road. Registration is 8:30-9 a.m.
