2024-25 Canyon Sounds Performance Series continues in Gold Canyon

The 2024-25 Canyon Sounds Performance Series hosted by the Gold Canyon Arts Council continues in January, with Rodney Marsalis Phildelphia Big Brass at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17.

The council’s nonprofit mission is arts education for students, providing in-school concerts, musical instruments and lessons, visual arts instruction, and school supplies, according to a release from Chuck Cuffaro, GCAC publicity.

Concerts are held at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church, 6640 S. Kings Ranch Road in Gold Canyon.

Adult tickets are $35, students (K-12) are $5. Purchase tickets at https://www.goldcanyonarts.org or at: Robin Rotella Team Realtors, 6641 S. Kings Ranch Road (credit card, cash or check); or the Apache Junction Area Chamber of Commerce, 567 W. Apache Trail (cash only)

Concerts are:

  • Rodney Marsalis Phildelphia Big Brass is 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17: “This ensemble had its beginnings and on the streets of New Orleans. Led by trumpeter Rodney Marsalis and on the advice of family patriarch Ellis Marsalis, the group, comprised of some of the best brass players in the U.S., breaks the barriers between music genres and creates a connection with the audience. Whether playing popular music on his piccolo trumpet or on his flugel horn, Rodney Marsalis and his group’s artistry have been enjoyed across the world,” it states.
  • Carion Wind Quintet performs at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14: ”Enjoy a special Valentine’s evening concert by one of Europe’s finest woodwind ensembles with a rose given to every lady in the audience. This Danish-Latvian-Swedish group fascinates with its dramatized performances of modern and classical works. Their rendition of ‘Tea for Two,’ rewritten as the ‘Tahiti Trot’ will be a treat for the audience. They exude tremendous energy filling the stage with tastefully choreographed and emotional content,” according to the release.
  • Jukebox Saturday Night is 7 p.m. Friday, March 7: Join us for this fabulous orchestra’s ‘Music of Mancini,’ a captivating show celebrating the extraordinary compositions of Henry Mancini on what would be his 101st birthday. This spectacular musical journey starts with Mancini’s early days with the Glenn Miller Orchestra to the timeless melodies like ‘Moon River,’ ‘Charade,’ ‘Breakfast at Tiffinays,’ ‘Peter Gunn,’ ‘The Pink Panther’ and others,” it states.
  • Delerium Musicum is 7 p.m. Friday, March 28: “This high energy and young string orchestra from Los Angeles, led by the mesmerizing violinist Etienne Gara, returns to our stage with what promises to be an impassioned and engaging musical performance. With their dazzling and creative interpretations of popular and classical compositions, they make sure that each concert is an immediate and visceral experience for their audiences,” it states in the release.
