Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates has received a $25,000 grant from education technology services company Zovio, JAG’s newest corporate partner. On Nov. 13, Zovio presented a $25,000 check to JAG, to support its career and college readiness program. The check presentation was in conjunction with Zovio’s ribbon-cutting ceremony at their new corporate headquarters in Chandler, according to a press release. As part of their new partnership, Zovio also donated more than 8,300 school supplies to JAG’s recent Back to School Donation drive. These items went directly to local students in need. “We’re beyond thankful for the wonderful new partnership with Zovio, and sincerely appreciate their generosity and support. Their $25,000 donation will be instrumental in allowing us to serve more young people throughout Arizona, helping them overcome significant barriers to pursue productive, successful paths in school, work, and life,” Graciela Garcia Candia, JAG president, said in a prepared statement. “Zovio also helped our students tremendously with their recent donation of more than 8,300 school supply items to our Back to School drive. It’s clear that Zovio is dedicated to supporting youth, encouraging education, and providing new opportunities for JAG participants to learn, grow and thrive.” Zovio has recently moved its corporate headquarters from San Diego to Chandler and is looking to build deep relationships with Arizona organizations and communities, a release states. Zovio claims to have a commitment to corporate responsibility, donating $10.3 million in community contributions since 2005. Zovio’s staff gives their time and resources to support the communities they serve in Arizona and beyond, forming lasting relationships with community partners to harness their collective energies to make meaningful contributions. “We’re collaborating with organizations like JAG that align with our vision and mission of activating ambition,” Vickie Schray, chief external affairs officer at Zovio, said in a prepared statement. “Our giving platform incorporates two pillars: learning for all and learning beyond the classroom. We’re focused on providing solutions that address and solve the skills gap, which aligns nicely with the work JAG is doing. JAG is working hard to ensure that local students graduate with the skills necessary for the jobs of tomorrow.” Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates identifies Arizona youth who need some additional support to graduate from high school and build a pathway to continued education, careers and productive adulthood. Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates partners with local school districts, the business community, the public sector, and other non-profits to help young people stay in school and acquire the academic, personal, leadership and vocations skills they’ll need to be successful upon graduation. JAG works with youth from 6th grade through age 24. JAG runs school and community-based programs throughout the state and has served nearly 40,000 students in Arizona since 1980.
