Valley charter schools to get expanded campuses in Anthem, Buckeye
Posted
Some Valley families will get to take advantage of two new campuses for different charter schools in Anthem and Buckeye starting later this year.
Great Hearts Academies, a public charter schools network in the Valley, announced April 7 the organization would expand in Arizona. Both campuses are slated to open next fall.
The schools are tuition-free and are being expanded in response to an increasing demand for education.
Two current Goodyear schools - Archway Trivium and Trivium Preparatory Academy - will also be expanded, the organization announced.
The Anthem Preparatory Academy will get a new two-story building and feature a large gym, football/soccer field, lab rooms, library and special education rooms. The school will have the capacity to serve students K-12.
The new location is about two miles from the school’s current location on the northeast corner of Gavilan Peak Parkway and Arroyo Norte Drive.
The Buckeye campus is named after Quentin Roosevelt, the youngest son of President Theodore Roosevelt.
“With over 8,000 waitlisted students across the Valley, Great Hearts is honored to have the opportunity to serve more families,” said Great Hearts Arizona President Erik Twist. “A new K-12 academy in Buckeye will bring over 1,000 new seats into the West Valley. We are also pleased that our Anthem students will soon be walking through the doors of a new campus, providing them an exceptional setting for world class academics, athletic, and after school activities.”
Roosevelt Preparatory Academy will be at Jackrabbit Trail and Van Buren. Construction will begin in the fall of 2021. Applications for Roosevelt Preparatory Academy go live on Monday, Nov.8.
At full capacity, Roosevelt will eventually accommodate about 1,100 students.
