Tiffany: Some Arizonans won’t accept facts about COVID-19, regardless

Posted

As Mr. Reilly’s missive (“Reader believes COVID-19 hyped for purpose,” Sun City Independent, Jan. 12, 2022) indicates, I am sure many of us are comforted by prayer and communion with our Higher Power.

I am not so sure the same can be said when discussing conspiracy theories espoused by Mr. Reilly — the “elite” have an agenda to “depopulate” our world in the name of “sustainability.”

Belief in the facts and the history or science on which the facts are based that dispute the issues raised by Mr. Reilly requires an acknowledgment of a fact, as such, (there are no “alternative facts”) and trust in the people presenting those facts (government officials, scientists, health authorities).

Conspiracy theorists, for one reason or another, simply do not believe the truth.

Unfortunately, persons who refuse to accept facts based on scientific or historical evidence will continue to insist that some grand conspiracy theory exists. It must be difficult to live in constant fear of and anger toward others who think differently.
