Safin: You can’t predict the future, but you can create it

Posted

I’m always thinking about the future and attempt to glean from the ethers what will happen next. It’s easier to predict the future when you create it, so the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce has taken new action to make sure the future of our community is bright.

Recently, the chamber announced a new digital platform, ShopSWValley.com, where consumers can sign up for free to receive notices on discounts, coupons, and other bonuses offered by local businesses.

It’s an effective way for business owners and managers to promote their products and services. To give our economy a boost, the chamber is offering a free one-month package to every business in the region. A strong local economy is necessary for a stable community.

Tourist season will happen. Winter visitors have already arrived, and more will be here soon.

The chamber published its redesigned tourist website, VisitSouthwestValley.com, to bring more attention to our community.

Spring training at Goodyear Ballpark has been scheduled, NASCAR has races coming to Phoenix Raceway in March, and many of our wonderful festivals will happen. Attracting travelers to our area will give a boost to our local economy.

Several Southwest Valley Chamber members have volunteered to lead our business development initiative.

One area where they will focus is enhancing the chamber’s Skill Builders program, our professional training/education series.

Based on reports from several reliable sources, professional and personal career development has become a paramount matter for corporations and individuals.

Investing in our people is the foundation for retaining and expanding our existing business base. This is one area where the chamber can help the most.

Ten months ago, we reacted by playing defense to keep what we had while adapting to the unexpected.

All of us have gotten into a new rhythm in the months that followed, but it’s not a time to dance yet.

There are many individuals, families and businesses that continue feeling the affects of the slowdown.

Please continue checking on family and friends to offer an ear to bend or shoulder to lean on.

If you’re able to help our local charities with your time or a donation, please do so. Your generosity will be very much appreciated.

The people who live and work in the Southwest Valley are one big reason our community is amazing.

I have faith that our caring and kind attitude will carry us into the future.

The chamber will continue working to keep our economy strong for the community. As it’s been said, we’re all in this together.
Let’s be in it together for an amazing 2021.

On behalf of the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce, I wish you and your family all the best in the New Year.
