Ronald Edward Gillmeister

Ronald passed away December 17, 2020 in Sun City, Arizona. He was born on October 13, 1937 to George and Evelyn (Gordon) Gillmeister in Chicago, Illinois.
He graduated from Lane Tech in Chicago, Illinois, and enlisted in the USAF. After serving in Alaska, he returned stateside and was stationed at Truax AFB in Madison, Wisconsin. There, he met and married the love of his life, Corinne in 1959.
The family stayed in the Chicago area where Ron retired after more than 32 years from the Jewel Food Stores. He went through their management training program and retired as a Service Manager of all Midwestern stores.
They moved to Sun City West, Arizona in 1995 and became involved with the community. They worked at the Sundome for many years. They were original members of the Visitors Center and served on the Building Committee of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Ron volunteered on the Properties Committee for the Recreation Center of Sun City West and ran for the board, where he was President for 2 years. He was very proud of the accomplishments of his board which included expansion in the areas of the library, clay club, pickleball courts and tennis clubs.
Ron is survived by Corinne, his spouse of 61 years and his sons Edward (Jeanine) and Steven; sister Joan; grandchildren Jessica Gonzales, Kurt Gillmeister, Lauren Wendel, Kara Marschewski and great granddaughter, Ella Wendels; his son-in-law, Michael Marschewski, brother-in-law, William Paar (Beth) and sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Wolk (Richard) and Roxanne Glick (Daryl) and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Debra Marschewski, and son Robert Gillmeister. His brother, George Gillmeister, wife Joan, and brother-in-law, Louis Werd also preceded him.
Funeral Mass will be at Prince of Peace with internment at a later date.
