Private security company partners with Valley law enforcement outfits to host career fair

Pathway to Law set for April 3 Phoenix event at 5.11 Tactical

Posted

On April 3, Windom Security Strategies Today along with other local law enforcement agencies will host a career fair targeted at people interested in pursuing work in the field.

The Scottsdale-based company has teamed up with different police departments throughout the valley including those in Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Glendale and at Arizona State University to host the Pathway to Law Enforcement Career Fair where visitors can chat with the agencies that they are interested in a career with.

The event is hosted in Phoenix at 5.11 Tactical at 2036 E. Thomas Road, No. 8. To register online go here.

The company has also collaborated with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and non-profits like Mission2Alpha and Thank You AZ Blue to organize and support the event with supplies or resources.

“MCSO is always looking for ways to reach our community and partner with local organizations to educate and recruit the next generation of law enforcement professionals who represent our diverse communities,” Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone said in a press release.

The event has been advertised as being a fair for all information concerning a career in law enforcement according to Windom Security Strategies Today CEO Dylan Vicha.

“I want people to come in here and not feel the pressures,” he said. “I want them to come in and just be able to ask questions [and] get information.”

Visitors of the fair can sign up online to attend the fair where they will hear from recruiters from these different agencies about what the job is like and how they can end up working for the department that they want to pursue.

During sign-up, guests can choose which agencies are most appealing to them to help with scheduling when people will be present at the various outdoor booths to help mitigate any possible spread of COVID-19.

The event has also partnered with HealthyVerify “to ensure a safe and comfortable event amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic” as stated in the press release for the fair.

Mr. Vicha said that the career fair was set to take place last year but due to concerns for the spread of the novel coronavirus, it was pushed to 2021.

“We ended up just kind of slipping into Zoom meetings and stuff the best we could,” Mr. Vicha said. “And then we wanted to kind of put it all together and finally get this out there that this Pathway to Law Enforcement at Windom is a one-stop-shop for anyone that’s looking to get into law enforcement.”

By having the originally scheduled event set for last year, they were hoping to gain traction about the fair so that they could continue to increase recruitment for the many organizations present, which they still hope to do in the coming years.

Along with the many in-person recruiters, each booth at the fair will provide vital resources and materials to these future members of law enforcement about the many programs offered within the state.

For Mr. Vicha, his company is focused on providing veterans with proper support following their service in the military and this event is one of the many ways that he hopes to create more career opportunities for them.

“We’ve been very excited about hiring veterans that are that are interested in law enforcement but also civilians can come to this as well so you don’t have to be a veteran to be there but there’s going to be resources for both,” Mr. Vicha said.

He further explained that the recruitment system in the state is like a funnel and the fair is just one of the smaller steps that interested parties can take to decide upon a career in the field whether at Windom Security or at a different agency.

“We’re looking for similar people and so if it works out and they can swing by and stay with us for a short term before they’re going then that’s great and if not, we still want to help,” Mr. Vicha said.

Although the event is available to anyone interested in a career in law enforcement, he hopes that veterans amongst others can make use of the career and life resources available to them at the fair.

“They might even find exactly where they want to go from this,” Mr. Vicha “I want people to know that this is going to be a very open friendly environment to learn about these careers that are available for them.”
