National Adoption Month - How you can help kids in foster care

Posted

Each year, AASK helps nearly 200 kids and teens in Arizona’s foster care system celebrate the finalization of their adoption. For these kids, adoption means having a place to call home and people to turn to in times of celebration and need.

Adoption means they belong.

For their families, adoption is just as special. For some, it means the start of their family and for others it could be the conclusion of their growth. For all families, adoption means finding a piece of their family they didn’t know was missing.

November is National Adoption Month, and a time when many families choose to make their adoptions final. As kids and families get ready to celebrate, there are still thousands more kids and teens in Arizona’s foster care system who desperately wish to have a family of their own.

Becoming an AASK foster or adoptive parent makes youth in foster care feel important and like they matter. Kids and teens who build strong relationships with caring adults are less likely  to face incarceration and homelessness and are more likely to graduate high school and have stable employment.
