Loop 101 widening project affects travel in north Scottsdale

Posted

The Arizona Department of Transportation continues its project to widen and improve Arizona Loop 101 from Interstate 17 to Pima Road in Scottsdale.

As part of the construction, there will be several closures and reductions both on the freeway and on streets near the thoroughfare that will happen along that stretch, according to a press release.

Scottsdale Road will be closed under Loop 101 from 10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11. Drivers south of Loop 101 can detour south on Scottsdale Road to east on Frank Lloyd Wright to north on Hayden Road. Drivers north of Loop 101 can detour north on Scottsdale Road to east on Thompson Peak Parkway to south on Hayden Road.

Loop 101 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction from 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18.

Left turns will be restricted to one lane in both directions on Scottsdale Road at Loop 101 through November.

Traffic in both directions on the Loop 101 between Scottsdale and Hayden roads is shifted around a work zone in the freeway median while a new bridge is built over the future Miller Road extension.

The traffic shift will be in place until approximately August 2020. There will be no reduction in travel lanes during the shift.
