Houston: Hypocrisy, fantasy rule today’s conservatives

Posted

Neil Barwick asks why liberals have the advantage over conservatives when it comes to politics. Perhaps the answer is the same as why they also hold the advantage when it comes to how deeply they believe in the fantasy of religion.

At the same time, he characterizes liberals as “illogical.” Funny, but I never saw a liberal president who hired prostitutes in front of his country and family, filed false tax returns ... or broke into the nation’s Capitol with a gang of thugs to shoot and kill people, then claim he’s exercising Freedom of Speech.

A well-grounded society operates on facts, evidence and reality. Conservatives operate on urban legend, fantasy and hearsay. The bedrock of conservatism is rooted in the Bible, which endorses conflict, hate and hypocrisy. Nothing in any bible has ever proven to be fact.

Liberals tend to be college educated, with certificates or degrees in various areas of matriculation. Conservatives tend to be minimally educated, rely on hocus-pocus, superstition and ancient legends of the physically impossible, such as claiming the Earth was built in six days. The only science they think real is science fiction and lopsided theories, like some creator (sic) gave them universal values. Who did? When? Where? How? They don’t have a clue, but they were there and saw it all.

Religions, like all cults, rely on bibles to create fear and intimidation that are too often taken literally. They contain verses descriptive or advocating suicide, incest, bestiality, sadomasochism, sexual activity in a violent context, murder, morbid violence, use of drugs, alcohol, voyeurism, revenge, undermining of authority figures, lawlessness, human rights violations and ethnic cleansing atrocities.

Exposure to bibles for extended periods of time, and during formative years in children, has proven to cause delusions, hallucinations, decreased cognitive and objective reasoning abilities and in extreme cases, pathological disorders, hatred, bigotry, racism, allegiance to inappropriate leaders and violence, including murder and genocide.

Remember Jimmy Swaggart, who turned the Ten Commandments into the Ten Requirements? Those are acts of ordained hypocrites, like Jerry Falwell, Jim Jones, Adolf Hitler, Jimmy Bakker, Donald Trump, David Koresh ... and thousands before them, have been practicing for centuries. What do these miscreants have in common? They all developed into sick, tyrannical adults, the result of abusive childhoods suffered at the hands of dangerous, overly-religious parents. Or put simply, the most extreme gestation of conservatism.

Can’t accept that? Look at the how the rise of this disease has negatively impacted world history just over the last several years.

Whenever someone labels religious symbolism as some kind of sage advice, they are panning their ignorance. Our English language is loaded with plenty of creative analogies to demonstrate particular points, without dredging up thorny references to politics and religion. Only conservatives question why politics and religion have always been discouraged in conversational English.

Yes, Mr. Barwick, fortunately liberals do hold sway over conservatives. That’s nature’s way, and it isn’t likely to change any time soon. It’s a simple matter of accepting the real world over your fantasy world of snake oil and bedtime stories.
