Gates: As COVID-19 delta variant spreads in Maricopa County, get vaccinated ‘ASAP’

Posted

All COVID-19 vaccines have been proven to be highly effective at preventing serious illness, hospitalization and death from COVID-19.

Last week, the FDA gave a new level of approval to the Pfizer vaccine for people ages 16 and up. If you have been hesitant in the past about the vaccine, I hope this new level of assurance will be the encouragement needed for you to get the vaccine.

The virus continues to mutate, adapting to survive and becoming more dangerous to our community; and arming yourself with the vaccine is the best defense against COVID-19. Vaccine is widely available in the Maricopa County, and I encourage all eligible people to get vaccinated ASAP.

We’ve had a very active monsoon season this year, and while the rain has been very much needed, it has also caused great destruction in Maricopa County.

I send along my gratitude to Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management, Flood Control District, Department of Transportation, and Sheriff’s Office for responding to the flooding disaster in Gila Bend. See how these departments are coming together to aid in the recovery efforts.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office if you have questions, concerns, or need help finding resources.

You may reach us at (602) 506-7562 or email: district3@maricopa.gov.
