Charles “Chuck” D. Woodard

Posted

Chuck of Sun City, Arizona life was cut short on January 2, 2021 at the age of 68. His passing came five days after he was diagnosed with a bleeding brain tumor. Chuck passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his “baby doll” his wife Margaret.
Chuck was born in Pontiac, Michigan to Charles (Chuck) and Deloris (Dee) Woodard on February 22, 1952. Chuck loved life, new adventures, his family and especially his wife Margaret. He became proficient at everything he engaged in. Fast cars, bowling, playing pool, hunting, fishing; even as a youth he loved sports and was offered a baseball scholarship.
In 1969 Chuck moved from Michigan to Southern California where he found the sport he really loved...golf. He picked up on the sport with ease; always working to perfect each area of the game.
Chuck worked the majority of his years in California for 7-up bottling company in San Bernardino. That’s where he met Margaret in 1997 and their never-ending love story started.
Prior to moving to Sun City, Arizona Chuck and Margaret lived in Reno, Nevada. In 2013, Chuck retired from his career as an excavation manager where he was well known for his expertise and skills in the business and being a wonderful mentor; but Chuck relished staying busy which led him to go to work for Sierra Sage Golf Course in late 2013.
Chuck and Margaret loved spending their time together, whether they were sitting at home watching a movie, playing cards or working around the house; or if they were out exploring the world. They were soulmates and best friends; always like newlyweds. Their marriage/relationship was one so many admitted they were envious of.
In April 2019 the perfect opportunity arose for Chuck and Margaret to purchase a home in Sun City, Arizona which would allow them to spend even more time together doing the things they enjoyed so much, so they quickly retired, sold their home, packed up and moved to Sun City all within a month. They worked endlessly for the first several months remodeling their new home together and loved every minute of it. When enough work was completed they split the time between remodeling and taking advantage of the golf courses, bowling alleys and all that Sun City has to offer. In his short time in Sun City Chuck befriended so many new acquaintances. He was known for his sunny disposition, charming smile, willingness to help others and for how quickly he played a round of golf.
Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Lou McCudy in 2016 at the age of 43. He is survived by his wife Margaret Woodard; his children, Brian Monzon and Stacey Monzon Krey; his grandchildren, Christopher Monzon and Ashley Monzon Frazier; his great-grandson Lincoln and grandson expected in March; his brother, Dale Woodard and sister, Sherrie Woodard Lundy; his parents, Deloris “Dee” Pugh and Charles “Chuck” Woodard.
Chuck is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Godspeed.
Due to Covid 19 a celebration of life will be postponed till the first week of May (day to be noted later) at Sierra Sage golf course in Stead (Reno), Nevada.
