Anthem resident, Army vet to get new vehicle

Anthem resident Phillip Rousu paid his dues to his country as a specialist in the U.S. Army.

Now, Mr. Rousu is getting paid back.

Later this month, Mr. Rousu is getting some new wheels this month as part of the Military Warriors Support Foundation and a local auto dealer.

Mr. Rousu, a Purple Heart medal recipient, will receive a free 2020 Ford Edge April 21 courtesy of Mesa’s Larry H. Miller Ford.

The Army veteran will receive the vehicle as part of the military’s Foundation’s Transportation4Heroes program.

According to the website, the program awards payment-free vehicles to veterans wounded in direct combat with an enemy force. In addition to the vehicle, the recipient will receive one year of family and financial mentoring, the website said.

The event is scheduled at 10 a.m.  April 21 Larry H. Miller Ford in Mesa, 460 E Auto Center Drive.
