Shadow Ridge teams finish first at annual district cross country meet

Students from one local high school finished strong at a recent track-and-field competition.

Other participating district high school teams included Dysart, Valley Vista and Willow Canyon.

The Shadow Ridge varsity boys, coached by Arrick Niete, prevailed at the end of the one-day competition with a 25-point showing – the team with the lowest point total wins.

Coming second, the Valley Vista boys put up a 71-point total; Dysart High posted third with 86 points; and Willow Canyon trailed with 97 points.

Joe Riddle from Shadow Ridge topped all runners with a time of 17:04:83.

The Shadow Ridge varsity girls, coached by Haley Ruebsamen, led the pack with a 21-point finish.

The Dysart High girls came in second with 46 points; Willow Canyon took third with 124 points; and the Valley Vista ladies rounded out the list with a 204-point result.

Gretchen Kuffel clocked the best time in the girls’ division at 21:21:66.

More than 150 student athletes competed in the annual event.
