Phoenix firefighters put out a junkyard fire near 43rd Avenue and Broadway Road in south Phoenix Friday.

Firefighters were dispatched Friday afternoon for reports of large amounts of black smoke coming from an auto recycling yard located at 4124 W. Broadway Rd. Upon arrival the first arriving crew found a very large amount of fire and smoke coming from 15-20 vehicles and debris within the recycling yard.

Ladder crews attacked the fire from above with the use of their aerial ladders, working together with firefighters on the ground to quickly extinguish the blaze. No structures were damaged and there were no reports of injuries to firefighters on scene. The cause fire is under investigation.
